Today, April 26th is Lesbian Visibility Day. Since 2008 the day has celebrated lesbians and aims to show our solidarity with all LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary people in the community.
Moreover, Lesbian Visibility Day is accompanied by a week of recognition and support for lesbians. This week serves as a voice for unity and lifts up ALL women, especially those who come from marginalized communities. Here are some things you should know about lesbians and why you should participate in uplifting Lesbian women this week.
1. The Definition
LESBIAN: Usually refers to a woman who has a romantic and/or sexual orientation toward women.
2. Transgender and non-binary people also sometimes identify as a lesbian
Anyone who identifies as a woman and is also into a woman can identify as a lesbian as well. For example, if a woman of transgender experience is into woman, then she may identify as transgender and lesbian
3. You can attend events to celebrate the week or educate yourself
